ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) is an actively managed, high-conviction thematic equity ETF run by ARK Invest and CIO Cathie Wood. It seeks long‑term capital appreciation by investing primarily in companies that ARK believes are leaders, enablers, or beneficiaries of disruptive innovation across five key technology platforms: artificial intelligence, robotics, multiomic sequencing, blockchain technology, and energy storage. The philosophy is that these innovation platforms are converging, will transform major sectors of the global economy, and are underrepresented in traditional broad market benchmarks. ARK’s research-driven process scores companies on factors such as innovation potential, market opportunity, execution, and valuation, and the portfolio is concentrated in a relatively small number of high‑conviction names (often including holdings like Tesla and Coinbase) with a long-term, five‑year-plus investment horizon. Investors use ARKK as a satellite position to gain focused exposure to disruptive innovation rather than as a core diversified holding, recognizing that the fund is inherently volatile but aims to outperform over a full innovation cycle. citeturn0search6turn0search7
